Privacy policy
Last updated: May 2026. This statement describes how Wand (“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use wand.co.nz and our services. It is intended to align with the transparency expectations of New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles. It is general information only and does not replace legal advice for your situation.
Who we are
Wand provides flatpack assembly services in Auckland, New Zealand. For privacy enquiries, contact us at hi@wand.co.nz.
What personal information we collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:
- Contact and identity details — for example your name, email address, and phone number when you request a quote or contact us.
- Job and location details — such as the items you need assembled, your service address or general location, and timing or availability information you provide.
- Technical and usage information — for example IP address, device or browser type, and approximate pages viewed, collected through normal website operation and analytics tools (see below).
We aim to collect only what is reasonably necessary to respond to enquiries, deliver services, operate our website, and meet legal obligations.
How we use personal information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to quote requests and communicate about bookings;
- Deliver and administer our assembly services;
- Improve our website and understand aggregate usage patterns;
- Comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, and protect our legitimate interests (for example fraud prevention and IT security), where permitted by law.
Sharing and overseas disclosure
We may share personal information with trusted service providers who help us run our business, such as:
- Form or email delivery providers (for example when you submit a quote request through our site’s form);
- Website hosting and analytics providers;
- Other contractors only where needed for the purpose described at collection.
Some providers may store or process information outside New Zealand. Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take steps that are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure protections comparable to New Zealand privacy law expectations, as required by the Privacy Act 2020.
Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from loss, unauthorised access, disclosure, or misuse. No online transmission or storage is completely secure; we encourage you to use strong passwords where relevant and to contact us promptly if you suspect misuse.
Cookies and analytics
Our site may use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality and to measure traffic (for example through Vercel Analytics). You can control cookies through your browser settings; blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including legal, accounting, or dispute resolution requirements, then securely delete or anonymise it where appropriate.
Access and correction
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you may request access to personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Contact hi@wand.co.nz. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Complaints
If you believe we have breached the Privacy Act 2020, please contact us first so we can try to resolve the matter. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do; continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised policy where law allows.
